Love Your Liver Workshop

Lessons on self-care, movement and seasonal living from chinese medicine.

Ideally Liver energy begins to rise and move outward in Spring. If this system is constrained we might experience a worsening of PMS, migraines, irritability/stress and musculoskeletal tightness

This workshop explores how to free up this energy using movement, food, acupressure and jourmnalling so that we may feel more relaxed and easy going.

Beginner Handstand Workshop with Kenny Vermette

June 7, 2024 5:30pm - 7:30pm

The beginner workshop is an entry-level workshop that covers the fundamentals of a handstand. This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • handstand-related flexibility
  • basic body positioning and alignment
  • body position refinement
  • balancing
  • kicking up to handstand

These topics break down the handstand into manageable pieces for a beginner.

Exercises and progressions will be provided for all topics, all of which will be practiced during the workshop with the intention that individuals understand the concepts sufficiently to be able to train on their own following this workshop.

Prerequisites: This workshop is suitable for individual who have spent some time exploring a handstand in some capacity but who do not have a solid freestanding handstand. Participants should be able to perform at least a 10 second handstand hold against the wall (back to the wall). A freestanding handstand is not a necessary prerequisite to participate.

Workshop begins with a heated Power Flow to get warmed up!

Intermediate Handstand Workshop with Kenny Vermette

June 8, 2024 4:30pm

The intermediate workshop is a mid-level workshop that covers both the fundamentals and progressions into transitions with the legs while in a handstand.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • handstand entries
  • basic leg movements such as straddle, pike, stag and front splits.
  • Bakasana to handstand etc
  • body position refinement
  • negative rep transitions
  • the toe to wrist tap
  • jumping into a handstand
  • Intro to the press handstand, tuck, straddle, pike and firefly press.

These topics break down the handstand for those who can already hold a 5-10 second free stand away from the wall. Exercises and progressions will be provided for all topics, all of which will be practiced during the workshop with the intention that individuals understand the concepts sufficiently to be able to train on their own following this workshop.

Prerequisites: This workshop is suitable for individual who have spent some time exploring a handstand without the wall and who are confident in a freestanding handstand. Participants should be able to perform at least a 5 to 10 second handstand without a wall.

A freestanding handstand is a necessary prerequisite to participate.

Workshop begins with a heated Power Flow to get warmed up!
